This post is Day 8 of a hike across Michigan from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. The trail is called the Michigan Shore-to-Shore Trail. It begins in Oscoda, MI and ends in Empire, MI. It is somewhere between 215 and 235 miles depending on what trails are followed. A map showing a complete breakdown of the trail along with resources along the way can be accessed here.
Day 8 of our hike began at the location we left off at the Mason Tract Pathway off of M-72. We ended just shy of the I-75 overpass in Grayling where M-72 crosses beneath. We started walking at 7:15am and finished for the day at 1:15pm. Though it was all road on this hike, the weather was glorious. We did see ticks in the grasses along the roadside but did not have to deal with tick issues otherwise.
Pixie, my Golden Retriever was not with us due to the ticks. After retrieving our vehicles, returning to our hotel, cleaning up, and resting, we went to Mai Mai Asian Cuisine. This place was outstanding!
Trip Summary: Total Time = 6 hours 00 minutes. Moving Time = 4 hours 29 minutes. Distance = 11.2 miles.
