A few days before Christmas 2016, a 13 month old American Golden Retriever was added to the family. The name Pixie is perfect for her with the twinkle in her eye thinking about the next adventure whether that is something in the house or outdoors.
Pixie is now five years old and has been on several backpacking and paddling trips with me. Her latest adventure was October 2020 riding with my Granddaughter and I on the ATV. The adventure team is pictured right. Emma and I worked with Pixie this day to help her get use to the ride. By the end of this session, Pixie was ready to go!
Shortly after the photo, I added a door to the box, some mounting hardware, and painted it to match the color of the quad. Pixie and I have taken several rides since and she is quite comfortable going on this type of adventure.
Pixie has paddled the Muskegon River and Brockway Lake with me. She has backpacked the Silver Creek Pathway twice. In 2021, she will be with me to complete the Muskegon River from Croton to Muskegon, backpack the Silver Creek Pathway and Manistee Trails, accompany me on an overnight ATV trip, and paddle the Hersey River.
Pixie has accompanied my wife and I on dozens of trips throughout Michigan. She loves the water and can’t seem to get enough of retrieving sticks and balls. She has the heart of a true Golden Retriever!
