Michigan Shore-to-Shore Trail Introduction & Plans

This post is the introduction and planning of a hike across Michigan from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. The trail is called the Michigan Shore-to-Shore Trail. It begins in Oscoda, MI and ends in Empire, MI. It is somewhere between 215 and 235 miles depending on what trails are followed. A map showing a complete breakdown of the trail along with resources along the way can be accessed here.

My friend Fred and I plan to hike this trail over 11 days. We will have to average about 20 miles per day. We have extensively planned for this trip with many discussions and a scouting trip to areas of the trail to plan for proper overnights. We plan to use two vehicles to ease into a long distance hiking trip like this. This will provide options along the way to obtain water and resupply when needed. The plan is to release an equipment overview next and then a daily video of about 10 minutes per day for the planned days. We welcome you to come along for the adventure!
