We headed to Ambrose Lake Campground to begin our first ride on Ambrose Lake Trail. My son Kyle and I slept in our Jeeps while our riding buddy Jim slept in the back of his trailer and Jim’s son Riley slept in the back of his truck. On this first day, we decided to ride the seven or so miles of Ambrose Lake Trail. This is our first ATV video using two camera angles. It provides a little different experience.
The temperature was cold and the wind made us feel the bite of a wind chill off of the lake. During the ride properly clothed, it was comfortable. However, sitting around in even the heaviest jacket near the lake was bone chilling!
During the ride, we saw about five deer. We tried our best not to scare them, but they mostly seemed less interested in us and more about finding food. These deer must encounter ORV riders frequently as they did not seemed phased by our presence or the engine noise.
Towards the end of the loop, there were a few hills and some water. Other than that, there was a large clear cut area and relatively flat ground.
In summary, the trail conditions were typical of most Michigan trails. Sandy, flat, and unremarkable. The convivence of the campground was nice in proximity to the loop and made for a perfect evening short ride.
Trip Summary: Total Time = 0 hours 55 minutes. Moving Time = 0 hours 54 minutes. Distance = 8.23 miles.
