My Life's Reward

Paddling, ATV riding, backpacking, Jeeping, and some fishing along with other outdoor activities possibly accompanied by a Golden Retriever named Pixie and/or Irish Setter named Brynleigh. Follow the first part of the journey working towards retirement in 2026 and afterwards, spending even more time in the outdoors. Maybe we can even dabble into some remote property and a cabin build!

Good day, I am Scott Thede. I love spending time with friends and family in the outdoors. I also cherish the peace and solitude when doing activities solo that often includes my Golden Retriever, Pixie. It is time I cherish to reflect and reset.

As retirement approaches, I plan to have a cabin somewhere in northern Michigan. Join me and my pups in our adventures.

This video captures an ATV ride through the St. Helen south loops, located just south of I-75 near St. Helen, Michigan. The weather was pleasant on a warm Autumn day. I drove a 2022 Canam Outlander 650XT. This is the second of three parts showing the south loops.

This part of the trail made for a peaceful setting enjoyable for all of the riders. For this second portion of the ride, after the recent repair of the fuse replacement for the fuel pump issue, my ATV worked fine. This section contained the most elevation changes.

This video captures an ATV ride through the Leota northwest outer loop, located southwest of Houghton Lake in Michigan. The weather was warm with dry conditions, but the dust was not a problem and the ride was still quite pleasant. I drove a 2022 Canam Outlander 650XT. This is the third of three parts showing the entire southwest outer loop of the Leota Trail.

Throughout the portion of the ride, part three was unremarkable other than the nice scenic view of the Muskegon River. Still this part of the trail made for a peaceful setting enjoyable for all of the riders. Towards the end of this part, my ATV did not want to start when we stopped at the Muskegon River overlook. My Son Kyle ended up towing me out the remaining few miles back to the trailhead. To learn more about the issue, see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aejUVniNims

Throughout the portion of the ride, part two was different than the first section represented in part 1. Many parts of this section were hilly with a rocky path in some portions. This made for a more technical/tactical ride that required additional skill. With this added challenge, it still made for a peaceful setting enjoyable for all of the riders. Towards the end of this part, one of our riders hit a blended in stump that was similar to the trail color. The rider was ok, but it adds a level of caution to future miles for sure.
